Structural Stairways Limited is pleased to announce that it is the winner of the Graitec 3D Model Competition under the Stairs and Railing category. As a Graitec customer that uses the Autodesk Advance Steel software package, we were eligible to enter the annual 3 D model competition. As a company we submitted several 3D models for the competition ranging from staircases, artistic sculpture fabrications and structures. The winning model was the Southern Elevated Walkway for the rooftop to the new Google (KGX1) Headquarters at Kings Cross in London. NOVEMBER 2020

Structural Stairways Limited was awarded the contract, by Bam Construction, to supply and install the two feature staircases and glass void balustrades for the new IM Properties HQ in Shirley Solihull. The two feature staircases were cantilevered unsupported flying staircases.

The main atrium staircase is a fully fabricated steel staircases with multiple fabricated hollow sections within the landings, some of which are fabricated from 30mm thick mild steel and weighing up to 250kg per metre. The outer balustrade is structural glass with stainless steel handrail, while the inner balustrade is fully fabricated steel.

The staircase to the rear office space is of the same principals of the front staircase. this stair however is fully formed using 25mm thick mild steel fabricated superstructure with over sailing treads and a fully fabricated steel balustrade.

The glazing to the atrium void and rear office space void is a proprietary structural glazing system supporting low iron structural glass.

Check out these two videos, one of which shows the structures in fabrication in our factory plus the site installation.

NOVEMBER 2020

As part of the works Structural Stairways carried out at Coal Drops Yard at Kings Cross in London, Structural Stairways was contract to supply and install the balustrade to Pavilion H, Granary Square.

This balustrade was particularly unique in the fact that the decorative infill panels were cast steel. the balustrade in addition also provided the façade around the glazing of the retail space below. As well as the balustrade, part of the package was to supply the cladding and casting for the lift shaft.

The finish to the balustrade was a zinc coating followed by an Antique Rust effect coating giving this balustrade a unique and special finish.
